FARE has released a powerful new PSA, “Ready to Act," featuring acclaimed actress Angela Bassett, who plays a first responder on the television show 9-1-1. Bassett draws a real-life connection to her on-screen work, urging viewers to be prepared for food allergy emergencies. “In real life, the same urgency can save lives, especially when it comes to a food allergy,” she says. Anaphylaxis is a severe, life-threatening allergic reaction, and epinephrine is the only medication that can stop it. If you or someone you love has a food allergy, talk to your doctor about carrying epinephrine--there is now even a needle-free option. Even if you don’t have food allergy yourself, recognizing the signs of anaphylaxis and knowing how to respond could help save a life. Being ready to act benefits everyone.
